Cupcakes vs Muffins

This is an interesting thought ive brought up a my school. Whats the differance between cupcakes and muffins. I say its the icing. I mean most people are like well muffins have nuts and are of different mix than cupcakes. But what i say is look. If you put icing on a chocolate muffin you get a cupcake. Whats yalls thoughts?
